Christoph Schneider is Professor for Climate-Geography at Humboldt-Universität in Berlin. He studied physics and geography at the University of Freiburg where he also received his doctoral degree in 1998. After six years of postdoc research in Freiburg he spent eleven years at RWTH Aachen University as Professor of Physical Geography and Climatology. In 2015 he moved to Berlin to his current position. His research spans a variety of topics related to the impact of spatial and temporal climate variability and climate change related to glaciers and seasonal snow cover, and within urban climatology and air quality research published in more than 90 peer-reviewed journal contributions altogether. Currently, he serves as speaker of the review board Geography of the German Research Foundation. Prof. Schneider is a founding member of Scientists for Future in Germany and curator of the KOSMOS lecture series at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. He also is a member of the editorial boards of Frontiers in Earth Sciences, Meteorologische Zeitschrift, and the Journal of Glaciology.
