Kathrin Röggla

Kathrin Röggla is an author of theatre and radio plays as well as prose. Among her most recent prose volumes are „Nachtsendung. Unheimliche Geschichten“ (Night Broadcast. Uncanny Stories) (2016) and „Bauernkriegspanorama“ (Peasant War Panorama) (2020), but also essay collections such as „Besser wäre: keine“ (Better none) (2013). Her theatre texts (including „worst case“, „Die Beteiligten“, „draußen tobt die dunkelziffer“) have been staged many times. One of her recent radio plays is „Verfahren“ (BR, WDR 2020). She has received numerous awards for her literary works, most recently the Austrian Art Prize for Literature (2020) and the Wortmeldungen-Preis (2020). Since 2012 she is a member and since 2015 also the vice-president of the Akademie der Künste (Academy of Arts) Berlin. Since 2015 she also is a member of the Akademie für Sprache und Dichtung (German Academy for Language and Literature) in Darmstadt and in 2019 she became a member of the Bayerische Akademie der Schönen Künste (Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts). Since August 2020, she is professor of creative writing at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.
