Cécile Wajsbrot was born in Paris. She writes mostly novels, sometimes essays and radio dramas. She just finished a five novels cycle about art – creation, reception – on which she has been working for twelve years. The last one, Zerstörung, has been published in Germany by Wallstein Verlag and the preceding one, Eclipse, by Matthes & Seitz in 2016. She lives both in Paris and Berlin, received several prizes for her writing and translations. Her courses at the universities in Berlin, Dresden or Innsbruck have been dealing among other themes with climate in literature or natural catastrophes. Since 2017 she is a member of the Deutsche Akademie für Sprache und Dichtung (German Academy for Language and Literature) and since 2019, member of the Akademie der Künste (Academy of Arts), Berlin.
