Ellen Bornkessel studied photography and media art at the renowned Academy of Fine Arts, HGB Leipzig. Her works are represented internationally in museums, galleries and at festivals. In addition to numerous solo and group exhibitions, her installations in public space are especially to be mentioned. In 2018 she founded the “Embassy of Trees”. With space-filling forest installations she brings nature into the cities and gives trees a voice. In front of the World Cultural Heritage Cologne Cathedral she built a nearly 100 meter long installation of a forest. In Monheim am Rhein, she converted a public bus into a moving forest. Ellen Bornkessel is a member of the German Society for Photography and is represented by Galerie in Focus Burkhard Arnold, Cologne. Monographic publications: “play” and “Forest Bus”.
